With the support of EECA, we recently completed installation of solar water heating systems on two
dairy farms in the Havelock/Marlborough area.
Kenny Kyle’s farm (the larger of the two) incorporated 10 solar collectors which heat 1300 litres
of water per day, while Nigel Morrison is heating 500 litres per day with 4 solar collectors.
It is early days for these systems but both farmers have already seen fantastic results, even with
the recent extended bad weather. Neighbouring farmers are excited with the power savings being
achieved and are now keen to follow suit.
