When monitoring deep cycle battery banks, using the cheap and simple analog meters or LED indicators will not be accurate enough. This is because the difference between a flat battery (11.50Volts) and a charged battery (12.6Volts) is very little and so knowing exactly what state of charge your batteries are in is very difficult to tell. It is recommended to only cycle your deep cycle batteries down to 1/2 or 3/4 discharge depending on your battery type, otherwise your will shorten the battery life and also have trouble recharging the batteries. Because of this you need to have an accurate meter to measure your batteries state of charge.
Will would also recommend check the battery stage of charge at least once a month with a hydrometer to check the monitors accuracy.
