Jeff Snackers

Solar Water Heating Technical Consultant
Jeff qualified as a Craftsman Plumber and Gasfitter in December 1977 (registration number 04105) and began developing solar hot water systems shortly after. He became a member of the Solar Heating Association in the 1980s.

Jeff's Transheat system was tested for thermal performance by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and has also gained the Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ) approved Appraisal Certificate.

When the NZ solar industry faltered in the mid 1980s, other manufacturers and suppliers pulled out but Transheat carried on, providing maintenance and repair of different systems and gaining insight and expertise into the best ways of doing things.

Design improvements were made constantly to eliminate common problems such as frost damage, overheating, insulation, fixing to roofs, roof penetrations and so on.

The solar hot water system that we prefer and install is simple and effective using readily available parts and proven, reputable products. It is not dependent on electricity for frost protection which is very important in areas where power outages can occur.

Early in 2008 ecogise took over the intellectual property rights to the Transheat solar water heating design and now Jeff works with ecogise to develop new ideas, as well as offering specialist advise and training where required.
